    Inside the cartridge

Three times the carbon. That's why your cat drinks.

Typical pet fountain filters hold 2–3 g of activated carbon. Ours hold 6–7 — and that single spec is what separates water your cat ignores from water they actually drink.

A small pile of activated carbon — roughly 2.5 grams found in a typical pet fountain filter
    ~2.5g
    typical pet filter
A much larger pile of activated carbon — 6 to 7 grams used in a Dripurr filter
    6–7g
    Dripurr · roughly 2.5× more
    01 · Chemistry

    Honeycombed for adsorption

Activated carbon is steamed at 900°C until its surface is riddled with microscopic pores that trap chlorine, chloramine, and dissolved gases. 1 g ≈ 1,000 m² of internal surface area.

    02 · Math

    More carbon, longer life

Every filter saturates once its pores fill. Typical cartridges quit in about two weeks. 2.5× the carbon = roughly 2.5× the capacity. Typical: ~2 weeks · Dripurr: ~1 month.

    03 · The cat

    What your cat actually smells

Cats have ~14× our smell sensitivity. Chlorine and sulfur — the notes that send picky cats walking — are exactly what carbon removes. Less carbon = more sniff-and-leave.

    How Dripurr compares

Every cat fountain claims to filter your water. Most just push it in a circle.

There are three kinds of fountains your money flows toward: premium stainless lookalikes that share a factory and 2-week filter, plastic recirculators that pump the same water through a token sponge, and Dripurr. Here's where each one actually lands.

    Your pick Dripurr
    Premium stainless lookalikes

Triple-stage filtration — every pass moves water through 6–7 g of activated carbon before it reaches the bowl

    Frequently asked

The questions you'd ask before you click "add to cart."

Written by us, not a chatbot. Updated when reality changes.

What if my cat doesn't use it?

This is the most common question — and the most common reason fountains get returned in the first 72 hours. Here's the honest answer: cats can take 1 to 8 weeks to adopt a new water source. Most do it within 10 days. Some take longer. That's normal feline behavior, not a defect.

You have 60 days to return it for a full refund — long enough to cover even the slowest adopter. No fee, no video proof, no need to keep the box.

    Is it actually quiet?

Yes. The pump runs under 25 dB in normal operation — measured at 1 meter, A-weighted, with the reservoir at recommended fill. Your refrigerator runs 40–55 dB. The pump is functionally inaudible from across the room.

If yours isn't running quietly out of the box, email us a 10-second voice memo and we replace the pump. We don't argue, we don't ask for a return, and we don't make you wait for the next batch.

Is the entire fountain really stainless steel?

Yes — every surface water touches is 304 food-grade stainless steel. Top, bowl, dome, drinking tray, faucet spout. All steel.

The pump housing and the under-base are plastic, because they have to be — but water never flows over them. We mention this because the rest of the category doesn't. Independent audits have found "stainless steel" fountains where water touches plastic through roughly 90% of its journey. Dripurr doesn't.

How often do filters need changing — and what's the real annual cost?

Once a month. Not every two weeks. The published annual filter cost is from $5.70 a month ($68.40/year) with auto-refill (40% off), or $114/year at retail — that's what you'll spend, before tax, on the cadence we recommend, in a single-cat household.

Most "change every 2 weeks" schedules in this category are inflated to sell more filters. We tested ours and a single Dripurr carbon filter performs as designed for 30 days. If yours looks visibly dirty before then, swap it — but you won't usually need to. Filter packs are $4 each, with no subscription required.

How hard is it to clean?

The bowl is dishwasher-safe (top rack). The pump comes apart in two pieces and rinses under the tap. Total weekly cleaning time: about 2 minutes if you're being thorough.

No hidden chambers, no winding tubes, no opaque plastic crevices where biofilm hides — those are the parts of a plastic fountain that get gross. Stainless steel is non-porous, so the surfaces stay genuinely clean.

Will it work for a multi-cat household?

Yes. The 3.2L reservoir covers up to 3 cats comfortably on a single fill (we recommend topping it off every other day). The pump is rated for continuous duty.

For 4+ cats, two fountains in separate rooms beats one larger fountain in one room — that's actually how cats prefer to share water resources. We'll bundle a multi-fountain discount if you email us first.

What about multi-pet homes — does it work for dogs too?

Yes — small and medium dogs (under ~40 lb) share Dripurr happily with the cats in your house. The wide surface bowl and deep center bowl flow modes are the most dog-friendly. The same triple-stage carbon filtration removes the chlorine and odors that put dogs off bowls just like it does for cats.

Two practical notes: the 3.2L reservoir empties faster with a dog in the mix, so plan on a daily top-off instead of every other day. And large breeds (60+ lb) can drink it down faster than the pump replenishes the bowl — for big dogs we recommend pairing the Dripurr with a separate larger dog bowl rather than asking the fountain to do both jobs.

When does it ship — and from where?

From our Wisconsin warehouse. Orders placed before 2 PM Central ship the same day. Orders after 2 PM ship the next business day. Free 2–4 day ground shipping anywhere in the lower 48.

We don't have "warehouses around the world." Some competitors say that — when what they actually mean is the product ships from a single overseas factory through 7–14 day mail.

What's the return policy — really?

60 days from delivery. No restocking fee. No "original packaging only." No video proof. No phone tree.

You email us, we send a prepaid UPS label, you drop the fountain at any UPS counter. We refund the full purchase price within 3 business days of the package scanning in. Filters you used aren't deducted. The 60-day window covers the full adoption period for cats that take their time.

    Is there a warranty?

Yes — a 1-year pump warranty. If the pump fails in the first 12 months, we replace it and ship a free month of filters. After year one, we offer at-cost pump replacements (typically $14).

We deliberately don't claim a "lifetime warranty." That phrase has been stretched into meaninglessness in this category, and we'd rather tell you what we'll actually honor.

Why is the price the same on every visit? No "limited-time" countdown?

Because we don't manufacture urgency. When there's a real sale, it's dated honestly in the announcement bar at the top of the page, and it ends on the stated day. When there isn't, the regular price is the regular price.

No fake "12 left in stock," no perpetual 30%-off banner, no countdown timer that resets when you refresh. Our brand kit literally forbids those patterns. If we're going to ask you to spend $89 on something for your cat, we should be willing to tell you the truth about what it costs.

Is it safe for kittens and senior cats?

Yes. The drinking surfaces are food-grade 304 stainless. The pump runs at low voltage. The flow rate is adjustable across four styles, so a kitten can use the bubble dome (gentle, low) while a senior can use the wide surface bowl (no neck strain).

If you have a cat with a specific medical condition (CKD, urinary issues, post-surgical recovery), Dr. Morgan recommends running the gentle stream — it draws the most consistent intake increase in clinical observation.
